John Grootes Has Passed On

John Grootes, who formerly lived in Rock Valley for a number of years, a brother of P. D. Grootes, former business man in Rock Valley, died in Blackfoot, Idaho, Thursday, April 13, according to a report received from the Grootes family in Kimberly, Idaho. The remains were brought to Twin Falls, Idaho, for burial and funeral service.

John Grootes had attained the age of seventy-five years, one month and eighteen days. He will be remembered here by many of the older residents.

His death certificate has John Peter Grootes, resident of Kimberly, Idaho; single; born in 1864 in Holland; no family data; died in the State Hospital South, Blackfoot, Bingham County, Idaho; resident of Bingham County 17 years, 8 days; died at 11:00 p.m. April 13, 1939; cause, septicemia, onset April 1939; contributory causes, decubitus ulcer, onset 1939, and senility-dementia, onset “vague”; buried in Twin Falls Cemetery.

No other information was readily located. The obituary of his sister-in-law, Gezina (Mrs. Peter Dirk) Grootes gives the Dirk brothers’ parents as Meiert Grootes and Mara Burgs.
