From the Salt Lake Tribune, October 12, 1955:

TWIN FALLS, IDAHO – Mrs. Geziena Alyda Brinkhuis Grootes, 84, died Monday in a clinic after a two week illness. Born April 28, 1871 in the Netherlands, she came to America at the age of 12. Resided in Idaho since 1921. Married to Peter D. Grootes, Sept. 18, 1889 in Iowa. Lived in Kimberly, Hansen and Twin Falls, member of the Methodist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Marie Bloem, St. Maries, Mrs. Howard Johnson, Eden; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren. Her husband died in 1942. Funeral Friday at 2 p.m., Twin Falls Mortuary Chapel, the Rev. W. A. MacArthur officiating.

Final Honors Paid For Mrs. Grootes

Funeral services for Mrs. Geziena Alyda Grootes were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Twin Falls mortuary chapel with the Rev. W. A. MacArthur officiating. Mrs. Russell Potter was soloist and organist was Mrs. Stanley Phillips. Pallbearers were Harold Koenig, Lewis Jennings, J. B. Walhof, Howard Bruns, Harley Crippen and William Crippen. Concluding rites were held at Sunset Memorial Park.

Petition Is Filed On Estate Here

A petition for letters of administration in the estate of Geziena Grootes, who died Oct. 10, was filed Tuesday in probate court by Alma Johnson. Attorneys for the petitioner are Parry, Robertson and Daly. The petition states that personal and real property will not exceed $10,000. Known heirs are listed as Alma Johnson, Eden; Mrs. Marie Bloem, St. Maries; Charles Mulder, Gooding; Franklin Mulder, Hansen; and John Mulder, Kimberly.

Her death certificate has Geziena Alyda Grootes, widow [no husband named]; born April 28, 1871 in Zolle, The Netherlands; parents Abraham Brinkhuis and Geraldine [no surname]; resident of Twin Falls 12 years, 455 6th Avenue North; died in the Twin Falls Clinic Hospital at 12:30 p.m. October 10, 1955; cause, congestive failure, duration 2 weeks; antecedent cause, arteriosclerotic heart disease, duration “years”; other significant condition, pneumonia, duration 2 weeks.

Her FindaGrave.com page has Gezina Aleida Brinkhuis Grootes, born 28 April 1870 [but her headstone says 1871] in Almelo, Overijssel, Netherlands; died 10 Oct 1955 in Twin Falls, Idaho; buried in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, Twin Falls; husband Pieter Dirk Grootes, 1965-1942; with a photo of her headstone.
