DeRoos, Jan 53 years died 23 Sept 1901 Former Sioux County resident, died in SD.

De Volksvriend of Oct 3, 1901 In Dutch
Hull, Iowa Translated:
Obituary. Our beloved brother Jan Jans de Roos Sr passed away on the 23rd of September, aged over 53 years.
Although his entering into rest was soft, the sick time was long-lasting. In his suffering he was very happy. And his departure was in full consciousness that he would land in the City with its streets of gold and twelve gates of twelve pearls, and where the Lamb is, to lay the crown with all the redeemed at the feet of the Lamb, who God e has bought with His blood: that place, of which the Psalmist testified, that here already the foresight caressed him, to be awakened saturated with the Image of God. Unfold its loft and enter it for all eternity.
Bro. Jan was one of the first settlers in Sioux County. He came here with his family from Friesland, Netherlands, in 1872. He now lived at Parker SD., Where he left from here 2 years ago, and in which state he used to live for 9 years in Charles Mix Co. The hard fight in Sioux Co. against the grasshoppers, and the drought in Chares Mix Co. he has had to go through, so that the contradictions have been many. Signed by: Cornelia De Roos - Wynia; Jan J. De Roos; Frank J. De Roos; Leendert den Oude; Janna Den Oude - De Roos; Oepke J. De Roos; Pier J. De Roos; and Akke J. De Roos.
