DeJong, Mrs. R. abt 1840 died Jan 1901

Sioux County Herald of Jan 23, 1901 Orange City, Iowa

Mrs. R. De Jong died last night at 11 o’clock from the effects of a stroke of paralysis a week ago. She was about 60 years of age, a Christian and much beloved by those who knew her. The funeral will occur tomorrow from the Christian Reformed Church. She resided in the west portion of town.

1900 census for Holland Tsp Sioux County lists Jennie De Jong age 60 born Oct 1839 Netherlands came to USA in 1883 wife of Rommert De Jong age 70 born Jul 1829 Netherlands, son Frank born Mach 1882 Netherlands.

A family report by others on line lists Rommerts wife as Janke ‘Jennie’ Aukes Van der Heide 1839-1901 Their were six children listed as born to Rommert and Jennie. Rommert had been married before in the Netherlads to Sietske Oedezes De Vries 1832-1865, they had four children.

Found a birth record for Janke Van Der Heide born 30 Nov 1839 born to Auke Geerts Van der Heide and Grietje Melles Fennema at Tietjerksterdeel Friesland Netherlands.

Rommert Berends De Jong was born 22 Jul 1829 Oudegan Smallingerland Friesland Netherlands died 25 Feb 1917 Orange City IA. His parents were Berend Folkerts De Jong 1795-1862 and Aaltje Rommerts Boonstra 1804-1870.
