Funeral Services Saturday Afternoon

Funeral services for Robert Vander Hamm, who passed away suddenly at his home last Wednesday morning, were held from the home and St. John’s Lutheran church Saturday afternoon with Rev. H. W. Berner in charge. Although the weather was stormy and the roads slippery, relatives, friends and neighbors turned out in large numbers to pay their last respects to the departed. A loud speaker had been placed in the Parish Hall so that the large overflow audience that filled the hall heard the splendid sermon of sympathy and love. The beautiful floral offerings showed the respect and esteem in which the departed was held. The pall bearers were Fred Vander Hamm, Ernest Vander Hamm, Oscar Vander Hamm, Henry Vlotho, Paul Kading and John Vlotho Jr. Burial was in the St. John cemetery.

Robert William Vander Hamm was born November 6, 1896, near Ireton, Iowa. Together with his twin brother, Herbert, he was the youngest of a family of eight children.
