A sad accident took place last Friday at Le Mars, While Miss Sophie Hoorneman wanted to burn up the fire in the cooking chamber in the morning, by pouring some petroleum in it, enough to put the flame in the can with the feeling that this spread and the burning oil on her leg. In a moment her clothes were in light blaze, and before anyone could come to her aid she was covered with burns. That same evening she died in great sorrow. The deceased had calculated the age of 30 years. She was a daughter of Mrs. J. D. Wandscheer over here. Mr. and Mrs. Wandscheer went to Le Mars on Saturday hoping to see her still alive, but were disappointed in that hope. The funeral took place on Sunday.
