Former Orange City Resident Succumbs in Arizona

Funeral services were held for Mrs. L. R. Minner, nee Arta Vos, in Gilbert, Arizona on November 11. She died of a heart attack at a hospital in Superior, Arizona.

She was the daughter of Joseph and Mary Vos, and was born in Orange City October 21, 1881. She married Louis R. Minner in 1904. They resided in Orange City until 1919, when they moved to Mesa, Ariz. She was a victim of rheumatoid arthritis and was confined to a wheel chair for more than thirty years.

Mr. Minner died about 28 years ago in a Phoenix hospital. For the past thriteen months Mrs. Minner made her home with her daughter, Leona and husband, Mr. and Mrs. George Rich, Ray, Ariz.

Survivors, besides her daughter and husband, include two grandchildren, and three great grandchildren, also three sisters, (Josephine) Mrs. V. Verwya of Grand Rapids, Mich., (Retta) Mrs. Robert Schultz of Oxnard, Calif., and (Kate) Mrs. W. W. Schultz of Orange City, Ia.

Interment took place in the Mesa, Ariz. cemetery beside her husband.

A similar obituary in the Arizona Republic, 10 Nov 1964, adds that she was a member of the Methodist Church and the Methodist Women’s Society for Christian Service, and that she died in Magma Hospital at Superior.

Vos, age 23, resident of Orange City, born in Orange City, parents Joseph Vos and Mary Overkamp; married in Orange City January 1, 1904.
