Vrijdag overleed ten huize van zijn Jan onder Newkirk de oude haar H. van Oort. Hij had reeds geruimen tijd geladen aan een hartkwaal. De overledene was een der eerste nederzetters in deze county.
Translated:
On Friday, at the home of his son Jan of Newkirk, the old man H. van Oort died. He had been suffering from a heart condition for quite some time. The deceased was one of the first settlers in this county.

In the 1880 census in the township of Holland, Hendrik was 50 born abt 1848 his wife Eva was 41, They had children Aartje 16, Jan 9, Wyn 6, Jacoba 4 and Johannes 2,

Research Note: In a family report on Ancestry.com (by others) Hendrik Van Oort was born 25 February 1830 Apeldoorn, Gelderland, Netherlands died 21 Oct 1898 Orange City IA. He was the son of Wien Aartsen van Oort 1799 and Jacobjen Schoelapper 1799. Hendrik’s wife was Eva Mouw born 26 Aug 1839 Kootwijk, Barneveld Gelderland, died 28 May 1890 Orange City IA. Her parents were Jan Albert Mouw 1813-1882 and Aartje Jans Willems Le Poir 1816-1891. Children- Aartje Blom 1864-1910, John Van Oort 1870-1946, Jan Van Oort 1871, Wien Van Oort 1873-1907, Jacob 1875, Jacoba Van Oort 1876-1945, Johannes Van Oort 1878-1956, Cornelis Van Oort 1880-1961.
