Stavenga, Louis, Child of Jan, 1895-1897 Former residents of Sioux county.

J. Stavenga formerly from here in La Grange, IL, requested us to report that the Lord of Life and Death had pleased to take away their beloved son Louis, aged 2 years, 4 months, and 10 days. After only 3 days of suffering from croup, the little one died on January 10th. Our heartfelt sympathy is with the sorrowful parents in this ordeal.

From the membership book of the First Ref Chuch of Sioux Center the family of Jan Stavenga wife Minnie Valentyn left for Chicago and came back 1898 to Carmel. Children named were – Lubertus bron 1894 died in Chicago, Nicholas born 1896 .

1900 census of Sioux County IA lists John Stavenga age born Dec 1869 Illinois, living in West Branch IA, married in 1893 to Minnie born May 1874 Illinois, one child Nicholas Stavenga age 3.
