Mr. Bernard Driesen, age 83, of Hull, passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at the Avera Merrill Pioneer Hospital in Rock Rapids.

There will be a funeral service on Monday, December 28, at 10:30am, at the Calvary Protestant Reformed Church in Hull. The Rev. Allen Brummel will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the Hope Cemetery in Hull. Visitation without the family will be on Sunday, from 3:00pm to 5:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.

Bernard was born on September 17, 1937, in Rock Valley, the son of Bert and Jennie (De Boer) Driesen. He graduated from the Western Christian High School in Hull before serving in the United States Army for two years.

He was united in marriage to Margaret Mae Hoekstra on August 31, 1960, in Boyden. They made their home in Rock Valley for ten years, where he worked with his dad at Driesen Implement. Then they moved to Boyden, where they farmed the Hoekstra family’s land.

Mr. Driesen was a member of the Calvary Protestant Reformed Church in Hull. He served as an Elder in the Protestant Reformed Church and served on the board of the Hull Protestant Reformed Christian School. In earlier years, he coached and played on the church’s fast pitch softball team. He enjoyed watching sports, especially his son’s high school and college basketball games, going for drives in the country, spending time weekly working on puzzles, and being with his family.

Survivors include his wife of more than sixty years, Margaret, of Hull; his four children, Sheri Driesen, of Sheldon; Judi, and her husband, Daryl Wesselink, of Hull; Lori, and her husband, Steve Boote, of Sioux Falls; and Brian Driesen, and his wife, Valerie, of Bakersfield, California; thirteen grandchildren, Adam Driesen, Alex (Meagan) Driesen, Andrew (Jenn) Driesen, Shelby (Seth) Irmiter, and Shea Driesen; Kelsi (Mitchell) Byl, and Courtni (Brady) Bootsma; Ashley (Tommy) Clark, Josh (Molly) Kruger, and Kassidy Kruger (boyfriend, Nick Bruhn); and Sydney Driesen, Trent Driesen, and Emily Driesen; eight great-grandchildren; five siblings, Harold, and his wife, June Driesen, of Hull; Helen Remmerde, of Aumsville, Oregon; Carol, and her husband, Rod Sandbulte, of Carmel; Marion Driesen, of Oostburg, Wisconsin; and Diane, and her husband, Harry Rozeboom, of Rock Valley; two sisters-in-law, Nella Driesen, of Hull, and Donna Driesen, of Rock Valley; a brother-in-law, Howard Van Otterloo, of Salem Oregon; Margaret’s siblings, John Hoekstra, and Beverly Hoekstra, both of Jenison, Michigan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mark Alan Driesen; a great-granddaughter, Macy Byl; three siblings, Gene Driesen, Don Driesen, and Elaine Van Otterloo; a brother-in-law, Ken Remmerde; and a sister-in-law, Marie Hoekstra.

Memorials may be directed to the Hull Protestant Reformed Christian School.
