ZUERCHER, DEJAGER, ENNEMA, BRINK

Mrs. Dorothy Zuercher, age 78, of Sheldon, passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2020, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, Arkansas.

There will be a private family funeral service on Saturday, December 12, at 11:00am, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City. The Rev. Mark Vande Zande will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon. Visitation without the family will be on Friday, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at the funeral home.

Dorothy was born on September 10, 1942, in Orange City, the daughter of Sam and Lucy (De Jager) Ennema. She grew up in Sheldon, where she attended the public school.

As an adult, she made her in Sheldon and Spencer before moving to Colorado. Later, she returned to northwest Iowa and settled in Sheldon until April of last year when she moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas with her partner, Dennis Almquist. In earlier years, she worked for Dillard’s Department Store selling cosmetics. More recently, she worked at Village Northwest Unlimited in Sheldon before moving to Arkansas. She enjoyed going shopping and decorating and found satisfaction in renovating houses for resale.

She is survived by her partner of more than eight years, Dennis, of Bella Vista; three sons and their wives, David and Mona Brink, of Spencer; Jeffrey and April Brink, of Des Moines; and Lyle and Stacy Brink, of Orange City; a daughter-in-law, Lori Brink, of Urbandale; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and a sister, Trudy Woudstra, of Orange City.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Steven Brink; three sisters, Margaret Hackett, Kathryn Vander Plaats, and Berdella Brown; and two brothers, Larry Ennema and Martin Ennema.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Village Northwest Unlimited in Sheldon.
