Alyda Saeger age 98, of Rock Rapids, Iowa died Thursday, December 17, 2020, at Rock Rapids Health Center in Rock Rapids, Iowa.

Private funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 24, 2020, at the Christian Reformed Church in Rock Rapids, IA. Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery at Rock Rapids, IA.

Public visitation without the family present will be Wednesday, December 23rd from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids.

Alyda H. (Hop) Saeger was born May 22, 1922, at Rock Valley, IA the daughter of Jacob and Antonia (Dibits) Hop. Alyda attended country school and as a young lady, she provided childcare to area families along with working at the bakery. On April 10, 1947, she was united in marriage to Edwin Saeger at Steen, MN. They made their home on a farm at Rock Rapids, IA. To this union three children were born, Bill, Jackie and Holly. Alyda was a member of the Christian Reformed Church in Rock Rapids where she took part in the Christian Women's Club, Merrill Pioneer Hospital Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. Every year she took part in pie baking for the Christian Reformed food booth at the Lyon County Fair. She enjoyed reading, needle work, embroidery, playing cards with family and friends, growing flowers, making crafts for Christian Women and the annual family sweet corn day. Her twin sister, Tille was very dear to her and she loved to spend time with her. Alyda became a resident of the Rock Rapids Health Center where she died this past Thursday morning, December 17, 2020 at the age of ninety-eight.

She is survived by her children, Bill (Marcia) Saeger of Orange City, IA; Jackie (Merlin) Groen of Rock Rapids, IA and Holly (Merlin) Bylsma of Orange City, IA; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.

Alyda was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her siblings.
