Marlene Schulz, 89, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Orange City Area Health System in Orange City, Iowa.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 28, 2020 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars, Iowa. Pastor Jon Meredith from the First Baptist Church in Le Mars will officiate. Burial will follow in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Reading Township, rural Ireton, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home. Social distancing and wearing a mask will be required. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars.

Marlene Vera Bowen was born October 26, 1931 in Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of Leslie and Nettie (Ferguson) Bowen. She was raised on a farm near Maurice, Iowa. She attended grade school in Maurice and high school in Le Mars. She graduated from Le Mars Central High School in 1951. After graduation, she worked at the First Baptist Church doing office work and also office work for Killeas Investmant Company.

In 1974, she married Dale Edward Wagner. Marlene was a homemaker and assisted her husband in his trucking and shelling business in Oyens, Iowa. Following his death, she did a lot of volunteer work. In September of 2006, she was united in marriage to Herman Schulz. They made their home in Le Mars. Herman passed away March 22, 2012.

Marlene was a member of the First Baptist Church in Le Mars. She enjoyed having coffee and lunch with her friends. She also enjoyed taking rides in her car.

Survivors include her sister, Dawn Orban of Box Elder, SD; 2 nieces, Linda (Richard) Rachell of Spokane, WA and Yvonne (Robert) Crisman of Rapid City, SD; a nephew, John (Mary) Orban of Osage, WY; several great nieces and nephews; close cousins, Darrell and Sheryl Hansen of Hinton, IA; two step children, Albert (Dorothy) Schulz of Le Mars and Ann Schulz of Le Mars; and close friends, Paul and Karen Bos and their family of Maurice, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Nettie Bowen; two husbands, Dale Wagner and Herman Schulz; a sister in infancy; and a brother in law, Wesley Orban.
