Joyce Smit, age 91 of George, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020 at Spirit Lake Iowa.

A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 14, 2020 at Evergreen Lawn Cemetery, George IA.

Joyce Joan De Zeeuw, daughter of Jacob and Anna (De Koning) De Zeeuw was born August 12, 1929.

On March 24, 1948 she married Peter Smit in Boyden Iowa. Together they made their home west of George, where Peter farmed, was employed for Dreesman Implement and later they purchased the business as Smit Repair and Joyce did the bookkeeping for the business.

Joyce was a member of the Hope Reformed Church of George, IA.

Joyce is survived by 2 daughters and families,

Jolene and her husband, Rod Buck of Bellevue NE and her children,
Pamela and her husband Larry Stone of Sibley IA;
Dean De Weerdt and his wife Jodi of Madison, Alabama, and their children, Tanner and Zander;
Jay De Weerdt and friend Ami Steffen of Sibley IA;
Amber and her husband Jamie Lindsay of O’Neill NE, and their children, Mia, Reagan, Levi and Whitney.

Debra and her husband, Alan Fettes of Spirit Lake IA and their children:
Tyler and his wife Julie of Sioux Falls SD and their children, Aubrey and Cameron;
Joshua and his wife Elizabeth of Beresford SD.

Brother and Sister in law: Ken and Elaine De Zeeuw
Sister in laws: Hermina De Zeeuw, Arleen De Zeeuw and Loretta Smit
Along with many other relatives and friends

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; brothers and sisters, Paul De Zeeuw, Klaas De Zeeuw, Jacob De Zeeuw Jr., Delia Van Zee, Lorraine De Zeeuw,
Ann Blumeyer, Howard De Zeeuw, Kathryn Oldenkamp, Margaret Boone, Clifford De Zeeuw,
Kathryn in infancy and two infant brothers.
