DeVolksvriend of Jan 30, 1919 In Dutch

Translated:
Thursday at 9:30 p..m. The 15th Sept, 1844, was born in Gelderland, Ned. At 24, he moved to America with his parents, brothers and sisters and arrived at 3 May, 1869, to Pella, Ia., where the family lived for 9 years. After that, he lived here for 4 years and moved to New Holland, S D. After a few years there, the deceased returned here and since his parents were taken away, he had a friendly home with his sister Mrs. A. W. Van Steenwk here and where he also died. He has been responsible for the field work all the time, until his powers no longer tolerate it. He has been suffering from asthma for several years, which worsened about 7 weeks ago and he has been a caring sufferer ever since. Three days before his death, he passed out. He was one of the very steadfast in the country, and, although he did not have the drive to profess the Lord openly, he felt great need for Him and prayed many times, especially during the last weeks. He leaves after him four sisters and two brothers: Mrs. A. W. Van Steenwyk here, Teunis Van der Hoef, Platte, SD., Mrs. Jas. Plooster, Harrison S. D., Jacob Van der Hoef, Mrs. J. L. Plooster, Platte, S.D., and Mrs. Alb. Little Joubert S. D.
The Funeral took place yesterday n.m. at 1 o'clock at home and at 1:30 from the 1st Ger. Church led by Ds. Engelsman.
