Mr. Tony Huizenga, age 88, of Orange City, passed away Friday, February 13, at the Orange City Municipal Hospital. The funeral services were held on Monday, February 16, at 10:30 a.m. at the Redeemer United Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Ralph Pontier officiated. Interment followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. The Oolman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Tony, who was baptized Teunis, was born July 29, 1909, at Alvord, the son of Otto and Anna Jager) Huizenga. He was raised at Alvord. On January 23, 1931, he married Rena Jasper in rural Orange City. They lived in Orange City all their married life. For many years, he was the custodian of the First Christian Reformed Church, retiring in 1974. In May of 1996, Mr. and Mrs. Huizenga became residents of the Pioneer Memorial Home. He was a member of the Redeemer United Reformed Church.

Survivors include his wife; three sons and their spouses, Otto and Madelyne Huizenga, Ervin and Eva Huizenga, and Willard and Linda Huizenga all of Orange City; fourteen grandchildren, LuAnn and her husband Mark Wagenaar, Laura and her husband Larry Plagerman, and Ruth and her husband Bryon Schelling all of Lynden, Washington; Tamera and her husband Kevin Korstad of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Sheila and her husband Brian Davelaar of Sioux Center; Maria and her husband Mike Byker of Hospers; and Joel Huizenga and his wife Karen, Beverly and her husband Randy Van De Griend, Darren Huizenga and his wife Dawn; Orlan Huizenga and his wife Rebecca, Ryan Huizenga, Ross Huizenga, Seth Huizenga and Amanda Huizenga all of Orange City; and twenty nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Julius Huizenga and a stillborn infant; two brothers, Steve and Jacob Huizenga; and a sister, Lyda Faber.
