A terrible accident happened in the area the previous week. Gerrit Vogelaar, working for a farmer near Hudson S.D. had the accident of falling from a wagon and probably landed his head on the stump of a corn stalk, cutting one artery. The horses returned home. The corpse of the man was later found, bought to the home of R. Cleveringa at Carmel.
