Donald W. Voortman, 59 of Sioux Center died Saturday, September 26,, in a Sioux City hospital after a short illness. Services were at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 29, in First Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center. The Rev. B. J, Haan and the Rev. Wayne Kobes officiated. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Voortman was born June 28,1928, in rural Carmel. He lived his youth in the Sioux Center area and attended school at Sioux Center Christian School arid Western Christian High School. He married Dorothy Brands' June 5, 1958, in Sioux Center. The couple made their home in Sioux Center. Voortman served in the Armed Forces from 1951 to 1953 and was a member of American Legion. He was a member of First Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Darla Faye and Debra Kaye, both at home; five brothers, John of Alvord, Tony of Escalon, California, Rich of Visalia, California, Fred of Bellflower, California, and Edward of Ontario, California; and two sisters, Mary Kroon of Boyden and Fredrika Van Ginkel of Ontario, California.
