1885 census of Holland tsp Sioux county lists Hattum Jacobsma age 67 born about 1818 Holland married to Ybeltze Jacobsma born 1839 Holland children Peter 21, Klaas 16 and Hendrik 15.

Research note: An ancestry report by others, lists Hattem Jacobsma born 20 Sep 1817 Smallingerland Netherlands died 19 Apr 1899 Holland Tsp. Sioux Count IA. He was the son of Klaas Hendriks Jacobsma 1790 -1868 and Frietzen Siebes Nieuwdam 1789-1826 He married Tyttje Pieters Koop 1816-1859, they had one son Pieter Hattums Jakobsma 1842-1949. He then married Iebeltje Ruurds Posthuma 1838-1917 on 3 Nov 1860 Drachten Friesland . They had children Ruurd 1861-1937, Peter 1863-1932, Klaas 1867-1897, Hendrik 1871, Syje 1873-1938, Siebe 1879 and Bertha 1881-1908.
Hattum was in the 1895 census.

On Friday, the remains of H. Jacobsma to the grave were brought. Ds Breen led the service of worship. Jacobsma was almost 82 years old. About 17 years ago he arrived here from the Drachten Friesland, Ned. The deceased leaves behind an elderly widow and 6 Children, of which 4 are married. In the last few weeks of his life, he suffered a great deal, but carried it patiently. He passed away in the faith's realization that he would land in the Father's House.
