Services Held for J. Brink Tuesday
Services were held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 6, at the American Reformed Church in Pringhar for John Brink, 80, of Primghar, who passed away December 3 at the Hartley Hospital. The Rev. Paul Van Eck officiated. Interment was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Primghar, with the Sanborn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
A men’s quartet, composed of Adrian Lucas, Henry Van Heuvelen, Bert Van Heuvelen and Herman Van Leeuwen, sang “Heartaches” and “Precious Memories,” accompanied by Mrs. Douglas Walvoord. Casket bearers were Larry Huygens, Delbert Matheson, Larry Ganzevoort, Jerry Ganzevoort, Robert Vander Pol and Galen Vander Pol. Mrs. Mitch Vander Tuig and Mrs. Jess Walvoord were in charge of flowers.
John Brink was born on March 4, 1886, in Hospers, the son of Sandra [i.e., Sander] and Jane Brink. He lived his youth and attended school in Hospers and was united in marriage to Jessie Roos, who preceded him in death on December 24, 1918. Children born to this union were Jennie (Mrs. Jim Huygens), Mrs. Nellie Luhrs, and Artie (Mrs. John Vander Pol).
On February 16, 1926, he was united in marriage to Jennie Ganzevoort of Hospers, and their entire married life was spent in Primghar, where he resided until the time of his death.
He is survived by his wife, Jennie; 6 children, Jennie, Anetta, Cyril, Nellie, Lena, and Artie; 22 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; two brothers, Nick of Brooten, Minn., and Fred of Hospers; and 3 sisters, Susie and Sarah of Sheldon and Annie of Hospers. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Charley, Henry and Simon, and by one sister, Hattie.
He was a charter member of The American Reformed Church of Primghar and served as an elder and Sunday School teacher for a number of years.

His FindaGrave page gives his parents as Sander Brink (1863-1952) and Jane Van Dijk Brink (1863-1914); 8 siblings listed; wives Jennie Roos Brink (1891-1918, married 1911) and Jennie Vande Weerd Ganzevoort Brink (1911-2011). Annetta, Cyril and Lena were her children with her first husband, Henry C. Ganzevoort.
