Find a Grave adds he was born at Boyden IA, died Sioux City IA, mother Nettie Timmers.

Birth record states he was born 18 Mar 1907 Boyden IA, his parents were Steve Vander Horst and Nettie Ten Hoven. Ten Hoven seems to be the correct spelling of the mother.

Steve Vander Horst youngest son of Mrs. Sam Timmers, died at Sioux City, Friday afternoon, Dec 21, after an illness of about 4 days with the flu. He was 21 years old and cashier at the Scoreboard café at the time of his death.
