Parents were Johannes van der Haak 1839-1917 and Hiltje Lillie Sipma 1846 -1931 He married Cornelius Catherine Vellinga born 1884-1965 on 2 Mar 1905 in Sioux County IA. Her parents were Willem Vellinga 1850-1925 and Geeltje Vander Ploeg 1853-1937. They had children John 1908, Gretta 1910, William 194, Lawrence 1921 and on more.

J. Vander Haak, Mr. and Mrs. Nick Notehoom from here and Ben Faas of Newkirk Wednesday evening were called to Holland, Minn. on the message that their brother Richard Vander Haak was very sick with high blood pressure, inflamed kidneys and is in the hospital at Pipestone MN. John came back on Thursday and was unable to inform that Richard's condition would be better. (He apparently died 15 Oct 1934 in MN, buried in Orange City IA)
