During the night from Friday to Saturday, 23 Dec, Mrs. M. Van der Berg, Sr., has died at the age of 55 years and more than 10 months. She witnessed life light, the 12 Feb 1861, in Hoogeveen, the Netherlands and was united with Mr. Marinus Van der Berg.

This marriage was blessed with 9 children, Matthys in Orange City, Pieter in the Netherlands, Mrs. Kleindorsman in Sheldon, Miss Fannie home, Marinus Rock Rapids, Mrs. F. H. Verttege Nederland, Mrs. S. Porte Edgerton MN, Arend and James Johannes at home. In 1912 the eldest son arrived here with his family, in 1913 a son and daughter and in the spring of 1914 the parents with four more children, who had the first two Years their home with the children, Mrs. and Mrs. Matthys van der Berg. Then Maart they moved to a rented property, n. w. of the church. The couple was allowed to be married for more than 36 years, During the late months she has suffered a lot from a kidney ailment and the last weeks was bedridden. The Father and children lose a lot because of this a loving wife and caring mother. They may cherish the hope that their loved one has entered the rest that remains for the people of God. She leaves her husband and children with four brothers and a sister in Netherland, as well as 13 grandchildren. The Children have all arrived to attend the funeral, which took place Tuesday am m. In the night of Friday at about 1 o'clock, Mrs. Marinus Van Der Berg, nee Aaltje Stoter, died at her residence west of town, at the age of 56 years.

Aaltje Vanden Berg is survived by her husband, nine children and 13 grandchildren.

The deceased suffered with a kidney trouble during the past summer and fall. The last few weeks she was confined to her bed and her vital strength lessened swiftly.

The eldest son, Mattligs came to this country from Zwartsluis, the Netherlands, in 1912. The following year came a brother and a sister and in 1914 the parents, with four children.

Besides the husband the following children survive: Peter in the Netherlands; Mrs. Viryn Dorsman, Sheldon; Marinus, Rock Rapids; Mrs. F.H. Versteege, Dutch India; Mrs. Sam Porte, Edgerton. Minnesota; Femmegje, abroad, and Jacobus Johannes, who are at the paternal home.

There are also four brothers and one sister in the Netherlands. Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 in the house and at 2 o'clock in the First Reformed Church.
