It was sad and shocking news when Hubert Remerde met with an accident last Thursday which resulted in his death. He was plowing in his field when the horses became frightened, causing him to stumble. The plow penetrated his leg so badly that it was necessary to amputate it. At first all looked well, but the next day there were signs of blood poison and Saturday morning he died. He leaves a wife and children. Leaving home in good health, and being brought back in such a condition with death following, one can understand how the family feels. They have the sincere sympathy of their hosts of friends and many relatives. This was proven last Tuesday afternoon at the funeral when a large concourse of people from near and far came to the church of Carmel, where the pastor delivered an earnest sermon before the remains were laid to rest in the Carmel cemetery.

Dr. Fettis of LeMars came last week. He had performed an operation on Mr. Remerde in Carmel.

Hospers column:
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Klein and John L. Rozeboom, the latter from Sheldon, attended the funeral of Hubert Remerde at Carmel on Tuesday. Mr. Remerde, who was widely known, died Friday last as a result of an accident in the field while plowing. In some way, he broke his leg in the wheel of the plow and blood poison set in from which he did not recover.
