Our old mother is no longer, Mrs. Gerrit Vande Steeg Sr. in the old age of 77 years and 7 years, has entered the eternal rest, after a 20-year marriage with Hermanus Walraven and a 30-year marriage with Gerrit Vande Steeg Sr. Her life was for Christ, and her dying was gain. This rejoices us, now that the Lord has taken her to Himself . Thanks to neighbors and friends for their condolences and support. Signed the H. Rouwenhorst and wife.

On Wednesday afternoon, the 22nd Oct, Mrs. Gt. Van de Steeg entered the eternal at the age of more than 77 years. The deceased was born on 26 March 1836, in Eeden Gelderland, Neth., and came to America in 1857 and settled in Pella, where she married Mr. Hermanus Walraven in 1861, who was deprived of her at his death after a 20-year marriage. Later she married Mr. Gerrit. v. d. Steeg and moved here on the farm North of the city. Her first husband was also taken out of her after a 20-year anniversary. Soon after, the widow bought the property here in the city where she has lived for about 10 years. She leaves behind six children from her first marriage, John, Conraad, Gysbert and Teunis Walraven, and Mrs. H. Rouwenhorst and Mrs. A. Bursitz here. The last two Years, where much body suffering in the home, as a result of a stroke attack, family has nursed her every need, until that death redeemed her It was all through her wish to be taken up to her Savior and Father, who she had faithfully served for many Years. The funeral took place Friday n. m. from the 1st Ref. Church under the direction of Ds. Engelaman. The Sons John Koenraad end Gysbert, who attended the burial returned home On Saturday.
