MIKE CONWAY DIES AT AGE 78--LONG TIME RESIDENT OF HAWARDEN SUCCUMBS AT HOME IN SIOUX CITY FOLLOWING A LONG ILLNESS.

Mike Conway, 78, died Sunday in his home in Sioux City, following a long illness

Mike Conway was a former long time resident of Hawarden. From 1931 to 1943 he served as marshal here. Two years ago Mr. and Mrs. Conway moved to Sioux City to be near their children.

Michael Conway was born June 5, 1870 at Jefferson, South Dakota. He married Bessie Halverson of the Chatsworth vicinity. Many years ago he came to Hawarden to make his home, living here until two years ago.

Surviving are the widow; six sons, Orville of Hawarden, Louis and Silvan of Chicago and Oran, Richard and Roland of Sioux City; four daughters, Mrs. Lavonne Peters of Chicago and Mrs. Grace Beaubien, Mrs. Della Brouillette and Mrs. Opal Johnson, all of Sioux City, and nine grandchildren.

Relatives from Hawarden who attended the funeral were Orville Conway, Mrs. George Embrock and Mrs. Robert Keehn. Mrs. William Burke and Mike of Hudson also attended.

Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Tuesday at the Westcott-Doughty-Chandler Funeral Home.

Note: Mike Conway is the son of Michael and Anna (Srunn) Conway.
