Mrs. Anna Conway died Sunday, June 17th, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.C. Dalton, after a long illness, at the age of 79 years, one month and two days. For the past two years she has been in poor health and has been bedfast the greater part of the time during the past six months.
Funeral services were held in the Catholic Church in this city at 10 o’clock Tuesday morning, Reverend Father Bradley conducting the service.
Anna Quinn was born in Roscomon County, Ireland, May 15, 1839. At the age of six years she went with her parents to Norwich, England. She was united in marriage to Michael Conway at Warrenton, England, in 1855. Immediately after their marriage they came to the United States and located in New York. In 1866 they came to Elk Point, South Dakota, where they resided a number of years. Her husband died at Elk Point nearly thirty-five years ago. After the death of her husband she made her home with her children and in 1899 she came to Hawarden and has since made her home here.
She was the mother of nine children, five of whom are still living. Those living are James Conway of Seligman, Arizona; Lewis and Michael Conway, Mrs. M. Clifford and Mrs. J.C. Dalton of Hawarden. She was ever a kind, affectionate and indulgent mother and her memory will ever be cherished by her children who are left to mourn her death.
