Ralph T. Aaron, 85, of Hawarden, died Wednesday, January 12, 2000 at the St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

Funeral service was 1:30 P.M. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Hawarden, with the Reverend Stuart Schreur officiating. Burial was in the Grace Hill Cemetery at Hawarden. Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden was in charge of arrangements.

Ralph T. Aaron was born November 4, 1914 at Billings, Montana, the son of Earl and Jessie (Turner) Aaron. He was baptized April 4, 1915 at the Methodist Episcopal Church. Ralph attended rural school near Arlington, South Dakota and graduated from Arlington High School. He served with the United States Army from 1941 to 1945 at the Aleutian Islands and Rhineland Central Europe. He married Vaudeth D. Bird on March 17, 1980 in Missouri. The couple made their home in Hawarden. Mr. Aaron was a lifetime member of the American Legion and enjoyed reading, history and gardening.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Vaudeth; brother, Paul E. Aaron of Arlington, South Dakota; sister, Mildred Sperry of Groton, South Dakota; nephews, Bruce Aaron, David Aaron and Ward Sperry; and nieces, Wanda Hildeson, Beth Larson and Patty Kratochvil.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a nephew, Kermit Willis Sperry.
