Benning, Mrs. born about 1824 died Aug 1894 at 70 yrs from Alton

Attempted translation:
Last week, suddenly the wife of Mr. Benning died at 70 years and 7 months. She didn’t feel well at night and briefly go up and then laid down again. Her husband thinking she had gone to sleep quietly tried to awaken her but she was no more. The funeral was held here with Ds. Kolijn in charge, also Ds Vande Kam, after that the remains were buried here, the deceased was one of the old settlers.

Research note: found to be Geurt Bennink married 10 Feb 1854 Ede Netherlands Gertruida Van Roekel was 30 years and Geurt Bennink was 33. Her parents were Berend Van Roekel and Willempje Vande Hoeve. She was born 11 Jan 1924 and about Aug 2, 1894 Orange City IA. They had one born in the Netherlands Maartje Bennink born 29 May 1854. Daughter Maartje Mrs William Vodelaar 1845-1920 can be seen on this site under obits.

Died last Thursday morning at 3 o’clock a. m. very suddenly of heart disease, Mrs. G. Bennink. The deceased is on of the old couple living on the Alton road. She is an old settler and well know all over the county and very highly respected. The deceased leaves a large number of relatives and friends to mourn her lose. Trusting the wisdom of Him who doeth all things well and who has taken His servant to the Rest prepared fro such, they can be consoled in this heavy loss. The relatives and friends have our heartfelt sympathy in their bereavement.

The death of Mrs. G. Bennink, one of the pioneers of this county at her home north of town on Tuesday. Auge 2nd, is deplored by every body. A Christian woman, a model wife and mother, she will be mourned and her name and memory revered by our people without exception.
