Funeral services were held at the First Christian Reformed Church here at 1:30 P.M. Friday, May 14, for John R. De Groot, 63, of Sioux Center, who died May 11 at the Veteran’s Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Services were conducted by the Reverend Peter Y. De Jong and burial was made in the Sioux Center Community Cemetery under the direction of the Co-operative Funeral Home.

Mr. John De Groot was born in Sioux Center August 16, 1907. He was married to Gertrude Addink February 13, 1951 in Sioux Center.

Survivors include the widow; a brother, Cornelius, of Sioux Center, Iowa; five sisters - Mrs. Elsie Ver Burge of Sioux Center, Iowa, Mrs. Peter (Gertrude) Balkema, Mrs. Bill (Pearl) Brower, both of Denver, Colorado, Mrs. Clarence (Jessie) Bjork of Santa Susana, California, and Mrs. Tillie Beneklasen of Watertown, South Dakota.
