From the Alton Democrat, December 14, 1928, Orange City news:

Al F. De Haan died at the home of C. De Booy, Sunday afternoon at about 4:30. Deceased was born at Orange City on Jan. 18, 1899. He graduated from the Orange City high school, attended Morningside college, Sioux City for a short time and for the past ten years he filled the position as assistant cashier of the Orange City National Bank

On Dec, 1, 1928, he was united in marriage to Miss Clazena De Booy. Almost immediately after they started on their wedding trip the groom was taken sick with flu and pneumonia, so the couple returned home two days later. His condition caused great anxiety, but still hope for recovery was held until Sunday noon when his condition took a turn for the worse and he died that same day.

He leaves a grief-stricken widow and parents, three sisters and three brothers. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon from the First Reformed church, Rev. H. Colenbrander and Rev. J. D. Dykstra officiating.

Dethmers, Herman Verhoef, Mrs. S. van de Brink, R. Moret, Boyden; Mr. and Mrs. W. Rouwenhorst and daughter Cynthia, from Hospers; Wm. de Gooyer from Sioux City; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Verhoef from Archer.

He was the son of Frank and Margaretta (De Gooyer) De Haan. See their obituaries, posted separately.

The Sioux County Cemetery Index has De Haan, Albert F., b. 1899, d. 1928, WWI Vet., West Lawn Cemetery, Orange City IA. His FindaGrave page includes a copy of his headstone, with his birth and death years and what looks like a military insignia; Clazena’s page shows her to have remarried, to Abe O. Voogd, in 1939.

His death certificate has Albert De Haan, born January 29, 1900 in the U.S.A.; parents Frank De Haan and Margaret De Groogie, both born in the Netherlands; wife, Clozina De Booy; occupation, asst. bank cashier; died at 4:15 p.m. December 9, 1928; cause, lobar pneumonia, duration 7 days, contracted in Minneapolis, Minn.

The Iowa Births and Christenings Index on Ancestry.com has Albert Frank De Haan, son of Frank De Haan and Maggie De Gooyer De Haan, born 18 Jan 1899 in Holland Township, Sioux County.

His marriage certificate shows groom Albert F. De Haan, residence Orange City, age next birthday 30, occupation banker, born at Alton, Iowa, parents Frank De Haan and Margaret De Gooyer; bride Clazena De Booy, residence Orange City, age next birthday 26, born at Orange City, parents Cyrenus De Booy and Teuntje Muilenberg; married December 1, 1928 in Orange City.
