Mary Vugteveen, 94, of Rock Valley, died Saturday, September 14, 1991, at Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. today, Wednesday at the First Reformed Church in Rock Valley, with the Reverend Gordon Bloemendaal officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery, Rock Valley with Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Vugteveen, the former Marie "Mary" Ver Mulm, was born Deceember 9, 1896, in Rotterdam, Netherlands, the daughter of Cornelius and Elsie (Velgersdyk) Ver Mulm. She came to the United States and to Rock Valley at the age of 4.

She married Peter Vugteveen March 20, 1919, in Rock Valley. The couple lived in many areas, including California, but spent most of their married life in Rock Valley. He died May 7, 1973, and she moved to Valley Manor Nursing Home in 1987.

Mrs. Vugteveen was a member of First Reformed Church of Rock Valley.

Survivors include a daughter, Darlene, and her husband, Paul Moerman of Sioux Center; a sister, Mrs. Henry (Martha) Harmelink, of Colton, South Dakota; six grandchildren, Mark and his wife, Carol, Tim and his wife, Sherri, Steve and his wife, Diane, Paula and her husband, Glen Boole, Laurel Lioi and Lynne Moerman; 13 great-grandchildren, Jessica and Jennifer Boote, Jason, Andrew and Teresa Friend, Kristin, Lisa and Stacy Moerman, Debra Sandra, Sheryl and David Moerman and Tara Lioi.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Cornelius, Nick and Bill; and a sister, Jennie Buma.
