Cornelius Vermeer, 80, Rock Valley, died Wednesday in a Rock Valley Hospital of long illness. Services were held Saturday in the First Reformed Church. The Reverend Roger Voskuil officiated. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery under direction of the Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley.

Mr. Vermeer was born February 13, 1899, in the Netherlands. He married Germina Scholten March 11, 1937, in Sioux Falls. They lived in Rock Valley where he was a carpenter for 35 years.

Survivors include the widow; three sons, Albert, Cornelius Jr. and Everet, all of Rock Valley: three daughters, Mrs. Elaine Terpstra of Milan, Minnesota, Mrs. William (Malena) Miller of Rock Valley and Mrs. Allen (Beatrice) Vande Stouwe of Hull; a brother, Henry of Sumas, Washington; a sister, Mrs.Ralph (Hattie) Brunsting of Hull; 20 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
