Teunis Ver Hoeven passed away at his home in Orange City Thursday at about 10 o’clock in the morning. Death came after a prolonged illness with heart trouble since last August.

Mr. Ver Hoeven was born on March 8, 1861 and had reached the age of 83 years. Born in the Netherlands and he came to America when a child of four. The time of his childhood and youth were spent with his parents on a farm near Holland, Michigan. At the age of 21 he came to Sioux County and was an employee on the farm.

He married Miss Lillian Hoeve of Orange City on February 16, 1887. The couple moved to a farm north of Sioux Center where they lived for several years moving next to a farm two miles south of Middleburg where they lived for about 25 years. After this they moved to Orange City where they resided until the time of his passing.

Survivors are his widow; three sons and two daughters. They are Jake Ver Hoeven of Ireton, Gertrude, Mrs. A. Van Zee of Hospers, Andrew Ver Hoeven of Hull, Harry Ver Hoeven, of Orange City and Cora, Mrs. Gerrit J. Mouw of Orange City. There are 16 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Gertrude died at the age of two. A son, John died at the age of 23 on December 17, 1911 at their home near Middleburg. Also surviving are a brother, Tony Ver Hoeven at Strassburg, North Dakota and two sisters, Jane, Mrs. Gerrit Vander Beldt and Miss Anna Ver Hoeven at Holland, Michigan.

Funeral services were held on Monday in the First Reformed Church, the Reverend H. Colenbrander officiating. Interment was made in the Middleburg Cemetery.
