Mr. Jerry Den Hartog, age 68, of Sioux Center, formerly of Orange City, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 11, 2020, at the Kosgrove Estate Assisted Living in Sioux Center.

There will be a private family service on Saturday, February 15. The Rev. Mark Vande Zande and the Rev. Jordan Helming will officiate. Interment will be at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City.

Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Jerry Lee was born on January 26, 1952, in Orange City, the son of Paul and Joan (Boone) Den Hartog. He was raised in Orange City and graduated from the MOC High School. After graduation, he worked for his family’s business, Den Hartog Lawn and Garden. Together they maintained the K-Products properties, and in the winter, they sold Christmas trees.

He was a lifelong member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City. He enjoyed traveling with his family, fishing trips, and raising gladiolas.

Survivors include his mother, Joan, of Sioux Center; two brothers, Duane and Bruce, both of Sioux Center; and numerous aunts, uncles, and other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Paul; and his grandparents, Cornelius and Magdeline (De Zeeuw) Den Hartog, and William and Carrie (Ver Steeg) Boone.

Memorials may be directed to the Orange City First Christian Reformed Church building fund and the Unity Christian High School building fund.
