Mrs. Arie Van Veldhuizen, 40, Doon, died June 21 at a Rock Rapids hospital.

Services were June 25 in the Porter Funeral Home at Rock Valley. The Reverend J. Van Zweden officiated. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery.

Mrs. Van Veldhuizen, the former Joan Hoogendoorn, was born August 13, 1933, at Lester. She was married June 19, 1951, at Doon.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Amy Joan, who was born December 21, 1973.

Survivors include the widower; two sons, James and Joal, both at home; seven daughters, Mrs. Donn (Susan) Peterson of Prescott Valley, Arizona, Mrs. Peter (Arlyce) Den Boer of Hudson, South Dakota, and Kerry, Jane, Julie, Avis, and Paula, all at home; her mother, Mrs. John Hoogendoorn of Rock Valley; four brothers, Gilbert and Theodore, both of Rock Rapids, Alvin of Inwood and John of Rock Valley; five sisters, Mrs. Willie Davelaar of Rock Valley, Mrs. Art Van Veld of Doon, Mrs. James Burnett of Omaha, Mrs. Albert Schelling of Orange City and Mrs. Albert Maassen of Fairview, South Dakota, and a step-grandfather, B.A. De Wit of Rock Valley.
