From the Sioux County Index (Hull), November 13, 1936:

Word was received in Hull that Mrs. John Ludwickson had passed away in Lincoln, Nebraska. Mrs. Ludwickson had submitted to a serious operation but failed to rally. She was buried in Walthill, Nebraska. The Ludwicksons formerly lived in Hull, Mr. Ludwickson being a former superintendent in the public schools.

MRS. LUDWICKSON DIES

Mrs. Marie Ludwickson, 56, who came to Lincoln in July from Walthill, where her husband, John Ludwickson, had been superintendent of schools for 20 years, died Thursday morning. The family home is at 4722 Hillside. Mrs. Ludwickson was a member of Mission chapter, O.E.S., at Walthill. Besides her husband she leaves a son and daughter, James K. and Helen Winifred, and three brothers, Peter Larsen of Lyman, Colo., Chris of Uhling and Mainus of Hamlin, Ia.

DEATHS

LUDWICKSON—Funeral services for Marie Ludwickson will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Presbyterian church in Walthill, Rev. A. C. J. Kellow of South Sioux City officiating. Mission chapter O.E.S. will have charge of services at the grave in Walthill. The body will be at Wadlows until Sunday morning.

FindaGrave.com has Marie Larson Ludwickson, born 29 April 1880 in Denmark; died 22 Oct 1936; buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Walthill, Thurston County, Nebraska; husband John Ludwickson (1873-1940, married 1906); son James Kenneth Ludwickson (1910-1995).

The 1900 U.S. census shows Marie Larson, age 20, born April 1880 in Denmark, immigrated 1894; with her parents Newton and Dorothy Larson and brother Martin, living at Harlan, Shelby County, Iowa. In 1910 John (34) and Marie (29) Ludwickson, both born in Denmark, married 4 years, their daughter Helen W. (2-11/12, born in Iowa), and his mother-in-law Dorothy Larsen (72) are living in Hull; John is the high school principal. In 1920 John (44), Marie (39), daughter Helen W. (12), son James K. (9), and three boarders are living in Walthill, Omaha Precinct, Thurston County, Nebraska, where John is a public school superintendent. In 1930 the four of them are still living in Walthill, now with 6 boarders; John is still a public school superintendent.

The marriage register for Shelby County, Iowa, 1906/1907 has groom John Ludwickson, age 31, resident of Thompson, Iowa, occupation teaching, born in Denmark, parents Ludwick Johnson and Anna Peterson; bride Marie Larson, age 27, resident of Harlan, Iowa, born in Denmark, parents Knud Larson and Dorothy Marie Jensen; married at Marinus Larson’s (no town given), August 29, 1906.
