Funeral services will be held at the First Reformed Church in Rock Valley Friday, February 25 for Gerrit Van Surksum, 79, of Rock Valley, who died February 22 at the Rock Valley Hospital.

Services will be conducted by the Reverend Ralph G. Ten Clay and burial will be made in Valley View Cemetery at Rock Valley.

Mr. Van Surksum was born at Hull, North Dakota, May 18, 1892 and was married to Rena Karsen January 1, 1913. She died August 10, 1948. On June 18, 1951. Mr. Van Surksum married Christine Wallenburg Vugteveen.

Mr. Van Surksum barbered in Rock Valley for 28 years and prior to that he barbered in Doon for 12 years.

Survivors include the widow; two daughters, Mrs. Geneva DeRaad of Boyden and Mrs. Albert (Esther) Van Beek Jr. of Scottsdale, Arizona; a stepson, Kenneth Van Diern of Pendleton, Oregon; two step-daughters, Mrs. Gerrit (Jeannette) Van Grootheest, Jr. and Mrs. Glen (Beverly) Van Bochove, both of Rock Valley; and 10 grandchildren.
