Emma Schmidt died at LeMars, funeral was attended by Mrs. Marth Jahn, Mrs. Jim Jasper and Mrs. Bob Rock wood, burial was in St. John’s Luther cemetery near Maurice.

Obituary Mrs. Emma Schmidt Mrs. Emma Wilhelmina Schmidt, 78, longtime Le Mars resident, died at her home, 114 Second Ave. SE, Wednesday after a 3Vtday illness. She was born Aug. 24, 1890, in Madison county, Neb., and had lived in Reading township, Sioux county, from 1930 until retiring to Le Mars in 1949.

She was the daughter of the late Gustave and Augusta Deiters Sommerfeld. Her marriage to Ernest Schmidt took place Nov. 10, 1926, at Lincoln, Neb.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran church, LeMars. Rev. Lowell Boettcher will officiate and burial will be in Reading township cemetery, rural Ireton. The Mauer funeral home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors are a daughter, Betty Schmidt, Le Mars; two sisters, Mrs. Ida Willis, Bradshaw, Neb., and Mrs. Anna Bitter, Longmont, Colo; four brothers, Richard and Otto Sommerfeld, Norfolk, Albert of Hoskins, Neb., and Adolph, Plainview, Neb. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1956 and by her parents. Mrs. Schmidt was a member of Grace Lutheran church.
