Sioux City Paper, 22 Dec 1956, he was Ernest F. Schmidt age 63 born 14 Jun 1893 in Esdorf Germany married in 1922 lived in LeMars died before 22 Dec 1956 wife was Bertha Eilts.

Ernest F. Schmidt 63, a retired farmer who had resided at Le Mars since 1949, died Friday in Sacred Heart Hospital, following a long sickness. Mr. Schmidt was born June 14, 1893, at Estorf Germany. He came to the United States and to Iowa in 1910 and moved to Nebraska in 1926. He was there until 1930, when he moved to a farm near Ireton, IA, where he remained until his retirement in 1949. He was a veteran of World War 1.

Mr. Schmidt married Bertha Eilts, December 6, 1922 at LeMars. She died in 1924. He married Emma Sommerfeld November 10, 1926, at Lincoln NE.

Survivors include the widow, Emma, and a daughter, Betty both of Le Mars; two brothers, Henry of Ocheyedan, IA and Louis of Germany, and two sisters, Mrs. Lilly Koke and Mrs. Louise Dreyer both of Germany.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday at Grace Lutheran Church at Le Mars. Rev. H. H. Meyer officiated. Burial was in Reading Township Lutheran cemetery near Ireton under the direction of Mauer funeral home of Le Mars.
