RESEARCH NOTES
A brief obituary in De Volksvriend adds that due to her illness she had been cared for at home by her parents. The 1930 U.S. census shows her able to read and write, but unlike her siblings was not attending school.
The Sioux County Cemetery Index has Vande Vegte, Henrietta, b. 1920, d. 1938 [apparently a typo], Valley View Cemetery, Rock Valley IA.
Her death certificate gives birth date Sept. 12, 1920 in Rock Valley; parents Peter Vande Vegte and Martha Veldhuizen, both born in the Netherlands; died at 5:30 a.m. August 10, 1936. “She had been an idiot since a baby, started vomiting about a week ago. I was called after death. No diagnosis made.”
