Mrs. William Van Surksum, nee Carrie Bloemendaal, died at her home after a lingering illness Friday morning, July 2.

She was born near Alton on October 23, 1880 and spent all her life in Sioux County. She was married to William Van Surksum in the year 1900.

They were the parents of three children, who with the husband survive her: Gerrit Van Surksum of Hospers, Johanna (Mrs. Ted Rutgers) of Seattle, Washington, and Gertrude (Mrs. Bert de Jong) of Hospers. There are nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also surviving are six brothers, John, Gerrit, Ralph, Henry, Will, and James Bloemendaal, and two sisters, Mrs. W. Scholten and Mrs. W. Van Steenwyk.

The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at the home and at the Christian Reformed Church. Reverend J. Hollebeek officiated. Interment was in the Hospers Cemetery.
