Lois Ann Ebel, age 65, of Paullina, Iowa passed away on Saturday, January 18th, 2020. Lois was born to Arnold and Rosella (Becker) Vortherms on September 27, 1954. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph Church in Granville, Iowa. She graduated from Spalding Catholic High School in Granville, Iowa in 1973. She went on to take a course at NITC (NCC). She married Lloyd Allyn Ebel on April 10, 1976 at St. Anthony's Church in Hospers, Iowa. They had three children; Jennifer Ann, Dawn Marie, and Lee Allyn. Lois was the "Rock" of the family. She worked alongside Lloyd on the farm and raised three children. Through the years, she worked at United Foods, American Interstate Bank, and in the church office at St. John Lutheran Church. She worked the remainder of the time at South O'Brien High School before she retired in May of 2017. Her faith was a large part of her life as well. She was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and would always donate her time whenever possible.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially the "Clucks." Her grandsons were her pride and joy, going to their events whenever she could. One of her favorite past times was working outside around the farm, tending to her garden and flowers. She also greatly enjoyed cooking/baking and was the best at making homemade bread and rice pudding. She would always have something on hand for the grandkids or whenever someone would stop by. She had a big, caring heart and was always willing to help someone in need.
Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Jennifer (Jeremy) Jalas; Dawn (Todd) Honkomp; and her son, Lee Ebel. Cherished grandchildren are Tory and Kyson Jalas and Benjamin and Reed Honkomp. Her mother-in-law, Margaret Ebel; and sister and brother-in-laws, Lori (Greg) Sjaarda, Doug (Deb) Ebel, Dan (Kim) Ebel, Kathi (Leland) Schmidt, and Kari (Mark) Lange.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Ebel; father and mother, Arnold and Rosella Vortherms; brother, James Vortherms; sister, Carol Vortherms; father-in-law, Harry Ebel; and two sister-in-laws, Joni and Judy Ebel.
