Henrietta Arlene Boeve was born November 19, 1929, in Hull, IA to Henry and Nellie (Van Surksum) De Jongh. She grew up on a farm near Hull and attended country school. Upon graduation she continued her education and attended Westmar College to earn her teaching certificate. She taught K-8th grade country school for 3 years.

On November 24, 1950, Henrietta was united in marriage to Art Boeve. Art left for the service in 1951, so Henrietta lived with her parents. During this time, their first daughter was born. Upon his return, they lived on the Boeve farm near Hull. In 1961, they moved to Steen, MN and continued farming. In 2005, they moved to Hills, MN where they lived until she entered the Tuff Home in August 2016.

Henrietta was a member of the Steen Reformed Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, an active member of the Women’s RCW, and a participant in various Bible Studies. She and Art attended numerous gospel concerts and hymn sings.

Spending time with family and friends was something Henrietta cherished. She enjoyed fishing at West Lost Lake, the annual “Boeve” summer vacations, bus trips, Extension activities and attending kids and grandkids sporting events. She loved playing cards, games and fixing puzzles. Crocheting was a favorite pastime, and she made beautiful Christmas ornaments for her family.

Henrietta’s family remembers her as a loving and giving person who put other’s needs before her own. She was a homemaker and often fed the men by hosting coffee in between meals, preparing specially ordered birthday treats, and hosting Sunday lunches. Popcorn was known to be her favorite snack!

Henrietta is lovingly remembered by her husband of 69 years, Art Boeve of Hills, MN; three children, Anita (Gregg) Bosch of Cedar Rapids, IA; Glen (Ann) Boeve of Steen, MN; and Michelle (Greg) Van Wyhe of Rock Rapids, IA; eight grandchildren, Chad (Sheri) Bosch, Matt (Kayla) Boeve, Ryan (Athena) Bosch, Tara (Derek) Venenga, Erin (Rex) Metzger, Riley, Rex, and Regan Van Wyhe, and 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Vern (Hester) De Jongh of Hull, IA; sisters, Bev (Dave) Wesselink of Newton, IA and Diane (Harlyn) Kempema of Rock Valley, IA; nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
