Henry A. "Hendrik" Van Roekel, 78, of Boyden died August 13 at a Sheldon hospital.

The funeral was at 1:30 p.m. August 16 in the First Reformed Church at Boyden. The Reverend Sylvester Moths officiated. Burial in Boyden Cemetery was under the direction of the Cooperative Funeral Home in Sioux Center.

Mr. Van Roekel was born August 20, 1894, in Sioux Center, son of Abraham and Nennetje (Vande Krol) Van Roekel.

He married Elizabeth Wielenga of Orange City on May 20, 1914 in Sheldon.

They lived in Hills, Minnesota, and Sioux Center before moving to Boyden 48 years ago. He was a carpenter.

Survivors include the widow; sons, Abraham H. of Boyden, Louis of Mesa, Arizona, and James Henry of Brea, California; seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
