JOHN C. ADDENGAST
John Charles Addengast, the son of John R. and Nelvina "Nellie" Joyce (Harmelink) Addengast, was born July 9, 1958 in Sheldon, Iowa. He received his education in Sibley, Iowa and graduated from the Sibley High School in 1976. After high school John worked different jobs in different areas around the country before settling back home and helping his dad on the farm. John was united in marriage to Barbara Beldt on November 3, 1990 at the Ashton First Presbyterian Church and they made their home on a farm south of Ashton, Iowa. John started working for Neal Chase Lumber in 1991, and in 2004 he became employed with Pella Window Corporation in Sioux Center, Iowa. John passed away on Monday, October 10, 2011 at the Sioux Center Community Hospital and Health Center, reaching the age of 53 years, 2 months and 21 days.
John was a member of the NRA and was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and naturalist. He enjoyed his job and was a hard worker. John enjoyed collecting antiques, wood working projects, reading and developing a wildlife habitat at the family pond. John also enjoyed visiting with friends but most of all spending time with his children and grandchildren.
To cherish his memories, John leaves his wife, Barbara; and their children, Laura and Todd Hill of Sioux Falls, SD; Ethan Smith and his fiancé, Lori Vollink of Sheldon, IA; Adam Smith of Sioux Falls, SD; Sarah and Ryan Brink of Sioux Falls, SD; Jade, Shanti and Sara Addengast all at home; and Michael Addengast of Everly, IA; 2 grandchildren, Olivia Addengast and Dylan Brink; 3 sisters and their spouses, Sheryl and Andy Holmes of Bishop, CA; Debra Sue and Jay Hessman of Spencer, IA; Cynthia and Jeff Claus of Las Vegas, NV; a brother and his wife, Harvey and Aurora Addengast of Valley Springs, SD; and an aunt, Joyce Addengast of Ashton, IA.
John is preceded in death by his parents.
