From the Hawarden Independent, May 16, 1935:

Miss Veronica Lawery was called to Sioux City Tuesday by the death of her brother-in-law, Albert I. Dorsey, who passed away that day in a hospital in Sioux City from pneumonia. He is survived by his wife, Anna May Dorsey, and one brother, N. S. Dorsey of Sioux City.

Albert I. Dorsey Perry Township Farmer Dies

Albert I. Dorsey, 43, a life long resident of Perry township, where he farmed, died in a Sioux City hospital Tuesday, following an illness of pneumonia. Mr. Dorsey was born May 23, 1892. He is survived by his wife, Anna May Dorsey, and a brother, N. S. Dorsey. The funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Wesley Methodist church in Leeds, Rev. J. E. Feller officiating, and interment made in Logan Park cemetery, Sioux City.

His death certificate has Albert Isiah Dorsey, resident of Plymouth County Route No. [no number]; born 23 May 1892 in Plymouth County, Iowa; parents Michal Dorsey, born in Ireland, and Elizabeth McWilliams, born in South Dakota; wife Anna Dorsey; a farmer; died in St. Joseph Hospital, Sioux City, at 11 p.m. May 13, 1935; cause, influenza broncho pneumonia, onset May 6, 1935; contributory cause, chronic bronchitis; buried in Logan Park Cemetery, Sioux City.

His FindaGrave page has Albert I. Dorsey, with a birth date of 23 May 1893 and a photo of his headstone. No family information.

His marriage record shows Albert Dorsey, age 42, resident of Sioux City, a farmer, born in Sioux City, parents Nicolas Dorsey and Elizabeth McWilliams, first marriage; bride Anna Mae Lowery, age 32, resident of Sioux City, born in Rock Valley, Iowa, parents James Lowery and Mary Keegan, first marriage; married at Rock Valley, 16 September 1934.

His daughter Agnes Mary, conceived shortly before his death, was born and died in 1936. See her obituary and that of Anna Mae Dorsey, posted separately.

His World War I draft registration card (June 1917) has Albert I. Dorsey, age 25, resident of Leeds, Sioux City, Iowa; born in Plymouth County, Iowa May 23, 1892; a farmer; says he is married with his wife as his dependent, but does not give a name; tall, medium build, brown eyes, black hair.

The 1920 U.S. census for Perry Township, Plymouth County, has Albert Dorsey, age 25, born in Iowa, father born in Ireland, mother born in Iowa, a stock farmer; wife Nellie Dorsey, age 28, born in South Dakota; and brother Sylvester Dorsey, age 28, born in Iowa, also a stock farmer. In 1930 he is still living and farming in Perry Township, with wife whose name looks like Nattie, both age 39 and both first married at age 23.

The LeMars Globe-Post (Sept. 11, 1930) shows Nellie Dorsey filing for divorce from Albert Dorsey on grounds of cruel and inhumane treatment. Both are residents of Perry Township, married at Dakota City September 14, 1916, no children.
