Our community was saddened by the sudden death of Mrs. Hyman "Ike" Van Maanen, who passed away at the Sheldon Hospital on Thursday, August 20, after only a few hours of illness.

Margaret Henrietta Moret, daughter of Leonard W. and Mary (Baartman) Moet, was born December 11, 1914, at Boyden, and reached the age of 27 years, 7 months and 20 days. She was united in marriage to Hyman "Ike" Van Maanen on April 30, 1935. To this union four children were born: Leona Carol, Kenneth Dwane, Norman James and Larry Eugene.

Besides her husband and children, mourning her departure are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard W. Moret, four brothers and two sisters, namely, William, Mrs. Elizabeth, Rens of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Peter, Henry, Mrs. Cora Uittenbogaard and Marion; also the aged grandfather, Mr. Moret, Sr. Three months and eight days ago her sister, Eleanor preceded her in death.

She was a confessing member of the First Reformed Church at Boyden.

Funeral services were held at the Reformed Church on Saturday at Boyden, with Reverend J.W. Brink officiating.

Mrs. Leonard Rensink sang a solo, “Peace, Wonderful Peace,” and Mrs. Anthony Smit and Mrs. Frieda Smit sang “Abide with me,” with Mrs. Ed Ver Meer as accompanist.

The pallbearers were the four brothers and two brother-in-law of the deceased. Interment was made in the Boyden Cemetery.
