Funeral Services Held Monday for Manus Voortman

Funeral services were held at the Carmel Reformed Church at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 17, for Manus Voortman, 55, former Sioux Center area resident, who passed away April 11 at Chino, California, where he operated a chicken ranch the past eight years.

Services were conducted by the Reverend Brook Stephens and burial was made in the Sioux Center Community Cemetery under the direction of the Co-operative Funeral home.

Casket bearers were Loren Vos, Garold Kroon, Henry L. Kroon, Everett Voortman, Henry V. Punt and Harold Van De Berg.

Mr. Voortman was born near Maurice, Iowa, December 14, 1911. On March 11, 1939, he was united in marriage to Margaret Kroon at Carmel. They farmed in the Sioux Center area until moving to California in 1959.

Survivors include his widow, Margaret, of Chino; four sisters, Irene (Mrs. Jake DeBoom), Chino; Mary (Mrs. Gerrit Kroon), Boyden; Fredrika (Mrs. Edward Van Ginkel), Norco; California; Gertrude (Mrs. Peter Van Beek), Bellflower, California; and seven brothers, Fred of Winnemucca, Nevada, Marinus of Sioux Center, Richard of Ontario, California, Ed of Chino, John of Rock Rapids, Tony of Artesia, California, and Donald of Sioux Center.
