Service Held For Mrs. Voortman

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 25, at 1:30 p.m. at die Carmel Reformed Church for Mrs. Marinus Voortman, 48, who died at the St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital In Sioux City, Monday, May 22. The Reverend Brook Stephens officiated. Burial was in the Carmel Cemetery.

Cornelia Voortman, daughter of John and Hattie Wissink was born near Rock Valley, November 16, 1918. She lived her youth and attended school in this area. August 4, 1940, she was united in marriage to Marinus Voortman at Carmel and she lived her married life on a farm near Maurice.

Survivors include the husband, three daughters, Evelyn (Mrs. Ronald Bajema), Rock Valley, Mildred (Mrs. John Hoekstra) Sioux Center and Diane at home; four grandchildren; her father and step-mother (Mr. and Mrs. John Wissink), Rock Valley and one sister, Frances (Mrs. Richard Groeneweg), Hull.

She was preceded in death by her mother in 1946 and one sister Dorothy (Mrs. Tunis Jansma) in 1961.
